Holiday in Turkey
From saterday the 12th till saterday the 19th of May Won and I went to Turkey. We stayed in Hotel lAmbiance in seaside resort Bodrum. We booked this All Inclusive hotel because we wanted to relax and do absolutely nothing. Today the story about our holiday.
Day 1
We departed from Schiphol Airport around 8 pm. We ate something small at the airport and forgot that mostly on these charters you don’t get food. But we hoped we would get something to eat at the hotel. But we had bad luck. We arrived at 12.30 am at the hotel and they served nothing not even a drink. So we went to bed with an empty stomach.
Day 2
We woke up thinking it was 9 am. With our hungry stomachs we went to the restaurant. I was a little bit disapointed because the breakfast contained only meat, olives, some bread and a boiled egg. Later on the day we realised that that we forgot to change the time at our watch, instead of waking up at 9 am it was 10 am. The next morning we woke up in time for normal breakfast and there was plenty. After early breakfast the hotel serves litele breakfast for late sleepers and party people.
In the morning we stayed at the swimmingpool to relax a bit. It was too hot for me to stay too long in the sun. After some swimming we decided to go out for a walk. We wanted to see the Marina from Bodrum.

Next to the Hotel lays an ancient wall from the period there was a war between Alexander the Great and the people that lived in Bodrum. Many people were killed. It was a great battle at that time,

Day 3
In the morning we went to the Hammam, this is a Turkisch bath. The treatment contained a stay at the sauna and a scrub and soap massage in the steam bath. After this fereshing treatment we took a 30 minutes message and we felt a lot better.
Our hotel is not located at the beach but between two bays. In the afternoon we walked to some old windmills near Gumbet Bay. There you had a great view over teh twoo bays, Bodrum Bay and Gumbet Bay. In the hot sun it was a little bit of a climb. That’s why we rewarded us with a dive in the sea, but the sea was verry cold this early in the season. We decided to rent some water cycles.

In and around Bodrum you see a lot of Chinese restaurants and they all assume we want to eat their, but they don’t now we are not from China
Day 4
With the Dolmus (this is a small bus) we went to the Bazaar (market) in Bodrum. At the Market they sell food, souvenirs and a lot of ‘real’ fake clothes and bags. The bizarre Bazaar is a lively place were people try to bargain for the best price and salesmen can say hello in 100 languages. After some ‘happy shopping’ we walked to the casttle in Bodrum next to the harbour. We also stopped in Gumbet for a quick swim and after that we went ‘happy shopping’ again in some shops near the hotel.
The man on the flag is Ataturk. This flag is hanging at a tea house but you see it everywehere.

Day 5
On Wednesday we rented a car. Won had to drive and was a bit nervous, because two days before we saw a car accident.
We started to drive from Milas to Bafe lake, and from there on to Selcuk. After Selcuk we visited Ephesus and drove back from Kusadasi to Bodrum. On the way back Won drunk his first coffee at Starbuck’s coffee. It took us almost 2,5 hours to drive from Bodrum to Selcuk.
I had to go to Selcuk because I have a friend called Selcuk. He is from Turkey and maybe I will find Selcuk in Selcuk!

Day 7
After driving a car Won had no problem driving a scooter. We rented a scooter for the whole day and drove around the peninsula to some old places and beautiful sea resorts. Unfortunetely the weather was not so sunny as the days before.
The scooter came with this helmet, Won looks like a German soldier.
When we tanked at the gas station I saw this car with the lovely curtains

Day 8
At our last day we went with the dolmus to Turgetreis. This sea resort has the biggest Bazaar from the peninsula. I loved the people from the food market. They were very friendly and cooperative. They loved to pose for the camera.
